You got a new Maligator! What’s Next?

Maligators are a unique type of dog that require a unique type of dog owner. The term Maligator is more commonly known as a Belgian Malinois. These are amazing meat missles with hard chomping serrated teeth that can cut through cast iron, chase down bad guys, and keep your house safe from most threats. Including the nuclear type. At least we like to think so.

If you get a new Maligator, get them to the Vet. Get them up to date on all their shots. Avoid taking them to public places where other dogs visit that poop or pee there. You want to protect your Belgian Malinois from contracting any deadly contagion like Parvo or Distemper.

We avoid dog parks, trails, sidewalks, big box stores for dogs, little box stores for dogs, etc. etc. etc. We’re not saying to not go there. We are sharing we avoid these places for us until our little Maligator has all their vaccinations so we reduce the risk of placing our little one in any life threatening situation.

This is sound advice for all puppies not fully vaccinated.

Maligators are high energy dogs. Start treat training them immediately. Make them work! They love it!

They will play tug of war with you all day. They will also eat and chomp on everything and anything in your home. So plan accordingly. It’s never too early to start training your new Maligator. We start training baby maligators while they’re inside the mama’s womb with puppy push ups, tail whips, and we have them sharpen their teeth on their mama’s lower left rib so they can cut through bone once they are born! Just kidding people.

We like to start puppy treat training at 10 weeks for most breeds but we will start treat training for Maligators at 8 weeks old. Your little one will be full of energy and require a lot of mini micro naps. And if you find your Maligator hanging off of you with their teeth after biting into any of your limbs, it’s ok. This is very normal for their breed. They are biters people. Don’t get one if you don’t understand that. Have fun with your Maligator and it’s a good idea to increase your home owners insurance.

Once they are 5 months old, sign up your Maligator for our training. We will be ready to help!
